Review of Spotlight (2015) by Marius S — 10 Apr 2016
Spotlight is a great movie with a fantastic cast filled with great performances. The story is simple but interesting. My only real complaint with the movie is that it feels small. The acting and the story is in focus, and for many that is more than enough.
Not for me, I consider myself closer to the average viewer more than a "film nerd". I love storydriven movies with great acting just as much as the next film enthusiast, but I often need the feeling of scale to truly love a movie.
Some of the minor characters are not close to as good as Mark Ruffalo and Michael Keaton, which becomes very obvious throughout the movie. This is a minor complaint though. All in all the movie achieved it's goal, and told it's story marvellously.
