Review of Split (2017) by Henry L — 13 Mar 2017
"Split" is another thriller/horror movie written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, an Indian-American movie director known for his horror classics. Split is a "so-called" sequel to his previous movie, "Unbreakable". Split is about three girls who are kidnapped by a man with 23 identities, and they're taken to an underground lair. The story concentrates on the kidnapper going through an identity crisis and how he handles them, and meanwhile the girls are trying to escape.
When I went to see "Split", I was expecting a horror jump-fest, but it was quite the opposite. M. Night Shyamalan drove "Split" home and it was much more than jump scares, it was a well thought out movie with a much deeper meaning than a simple kidnapping, with great ties and connections to Shyamalan's "Unbreakable", and is worth sticking around to the end. This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat for the whole movie because of it's great production and story twists, and I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes thrillers/mystery movies. There is one catch however, and that is that the ending is very difficult to comprehend if you haven't already seen "Unbreakable", and so in order to enjoy "Split" to the fullest, you should first watch "Unbreakable"."Split" is without a doubt one of Shyamalan's best pieces, and if you haven't already seen it, you should.
