Review of Split (2017) by Carlos P — 23 Apr 2017

I had no expectations going in to this movie. I didn't even know it was a Shyamalan movie until the opening credits. Let me just start by saying that James McAvoy was amazing in this movie. The way he seamlessly flowed between personalities and really just the minute details in his facial expressions were nothing less than masterful.

I seriously have a new respect for him as an actor. Anya taylor joy was also very good. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more of her. Aside from the stellar performances, the movie is good at keeping you in suspense and is truly thrilling at times.

That being said, its not a perfect movie. There are some characters who are very flat and some moments that seem to go nowhere, but overall it's a solid movie. Definitely worth watching for the performances if nothing else.

McAvoy deserves an Oscar nomination in my humble opinion.
