Review of Splendor in the Grass (1961) by Brent C — 19 Nov 2011
Just a great movie dealing with issues seldom dealt with in movies of this time. This one is basically a teenage love story from its beginning but as it continues the plot and characters become much more serious with darker tones.
It explores the social issues of being a teenager in love in the twenties and then switches to a full out tragedy but comes around a gives us a very satisfying ending although no prototypical hollywood happy ending which makes it all the more satisfying.
Amazing performances by a stellar cast highlighted by Wood, Beatty(in his debut), and Pat Hingle as Beatty's father.
