Review of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) by Christopher A — 04 Jan 2018
It was just "ok". I love spiderman. probably my favorite comic book. But this just didnt do it for me.
My biggest annoyance in the movie was the lack of "spider sense." How can you possibly do a spiderman movie with no spider sense?
And I'm sorry, but when you have strong source material...DONT CHANGE IT. And by this is speaking of completely changing Vulture, Shocker, Flash, and more than the others, having MJ not be Mary Jane Watson.
You want to switch it up, fine. Then create new characters, dont mess with what we, as comic book fans, know and love. MJ is Mary Jane. PERIOD. Flash Thomson is a jock, not a nerd like Peter.
And while Ned, is by the far the best character in the movie. He is not Harry Osborne.
And I agree with Cinemasins that a lot of what makes spiderman great is that he makes his own costume, web slingers, and other devices himself. He doesnt get them from Iron Man.
To be honest, I found myself bored a lot of the time watching it. IMO, Sam Rhami version is far superior.
