Spiderman: Homecoming is likely the worst marvel film yet, it has no style or substance, a weak supporting cast and drops more names then the entire run of marvels agents of shield to once again emphasize that Spiderman is now a part of the MCU. Its almost strange to think that in the past 10 years we've had 3 spiderman's and part of me can still reminisce about being keen to watch Spiderman 3 with Tobey Maguire in 2007 at the helm (yes I know it sucks, and it was probably one of the first films that i've watched that I ever considered to be bad) after the tremendous success and enjoy-ability of Sam Raimi's first 2 films. Anyway, Spiderman Homecoming having now gone in and seen it, is likely not just the worst Spiderman film to date (yes worse then Amazing Spiderman 2) but also the worst MCU film to grace the screen.

Now to the elephant in the room, the cast. where I can't completely criticize Holland and Keaton who didn't exactly get the best dialogue, the rest of the cast in particular Peter's friend Ned, Liz, Michelle and Flash were just about all cringe to watch, with Ned bumbling around like a complete moron for the missing laugh tracks, Liz lacking any aspect of a personality or general likable quality, Michelle serving as the last line for desperate attempts at comic relief, and Flash whose greatest insults range from 'P*enis Parker' to calling Peter a liar. Holland dosen't really do all that much in this movie aside from wine, fanboy about the Avengers and occasionally shoot a web and Michael Keaton is pretty much Michael Keaton which is about all I can say (Which is by no means a bad thing).

The direction and writing in this film is lacking heavily aswell, which can be understandable considering this film has 6 writers and the only notable experience the director has is Cop Car, which is as boring as it sounds. The film feels as through its dead in the water from the get go with preference on CGI over practical effects and the constant need to make the film interesting by location dropping with the Washington monument and Avengers tower acting as desperate pleas to make the film work. The film also goes on with some SJW nonsense aswell from casually dropping the fact that the Washington memorial was built by slaves.

A final complaint for this review is how safe the movie is played, in my country Australia the film is rated M for ages 15 and yet this film refuses to completely drop the F bomb like its some teen show in which swearing is considered a cardinal sin, the closest to an F bomb we get is 80% with 'oh fuc.....'. The film really doesn't want to take any risks aswell with nothing really bad happening, the lack of death is irritating and the need for every character to generate further sequels see's to every character getting their own personal plot shield which seem to be good for a lifetime at this current stage. Ultimately Spiderman had a good build up with civil war and wasted it on homecoming. The script direction and majority of the cast are infuriating and there isn't all to much to look forward to in the future of Spiderman, hell i'ld even go for middle age Tobey Maguire right now. Hopefully the MCU can redeem itself with Thor Ragnarok when it drops.
