Review of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) by Emma C — 29 Jul 2017
I enjoyed the humor and the extra Spider gadgets, but that's about it. Peter and Liz barely spoke, never had a full conversation. Vulture is not Liz's dad. Spiderman had no motivation to go after vulture, final climax was weak, no loved ones were threatened, there was no blackmail, nothing new. Just stopping weapons from getting transported from point a to point b, no time sensitive stakes at all. No connection between hero and villain.
They titled the movie Homecoming but he was at the dance less than 30 seconds and ditched his date for no reason, no explanation or cover up, she must think he's a complete asshole. The fight choreography was lacking, no cool moves that we got to see in the previous 5 movies, and didn't incorporate spider sense. Why is Aunt May a sex symbol for middle aged men??? Why is Flash Thompson scrawny, 5'5" and on the trivia team??? No mention of Uncle Ben.
