Review of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) by Thomas L — 11 Jul 2017

Easily the best cinematic Spider-Man yet. However, this isn't the best comparison seeing as I thought all 5 of the previous were absolute garbage. My biggest issue with all the films prior to this one is that they unfolded the Spidey bubble out as something epic , each with egregiously expositional messages.

Even though putting Spidey onto the big screen as the main character of feature film is epic in itself, Homecoming was smart in keeping him small. In every way possible he felt like a kid (something McGuire and Garfield failed at), and often found himself in situations that were way over his head (though being a kid he doesn't recognize it).

Being a loyal Spidey reader as a kid, I was quite pleased with how this one turned out, though I am irritated by what seems like a complete absence of the "Spider-Sense".
