Good movie. Great cast save for maybe 2 casting choices. Characterization is pretty poor with a few of the refreshed takes on classic characters. The film has a very strong sense of pandering that I never thought I'd see in a Spider-Man movie.

The character zendaya (SPOILER ALERT, it's MJ) plays is grading in ways I never expected. She brings up protesting, the Washington memorial being built by slaves, and general edge lord stuff that I really never expected in a Spider-Man movie.

The new flash Thompson is just flat wrong. I don't quite understand his motivation or character in general. He seems to be popular because he's privileged with wealth, he also dj's, and is part of the academic decathalon petes in? The change in his character seems largely underdeveloped and underwhelming if they plan on making him into spideys ultimate nemesis, venom.

We have issues with really shoving the fact that spiderman is an avenger now. Avengers nuggets were constantly bombarding the screen and taking me out of the movie. There's a terrific story about a kid dealing with his personal life and having to deal with this superpower he has.

Tony "uncle Ben" stark was a nice touch in the movie actually. His character motivation for picking a 15 yr old kid to be an avenger didn't really get explained. Also none of the villains were explained at all.

How were these villains who were seemingly construction workers able to make this crazy tech that vulture uses. And that brings us to vulture. One thing that these marvel movies always struggle with is writing villains.

They seem to be just second thought. Marvel just like with guardians of the galaxy vol.2 have really crafted a villain here with depth and almost sympathetic reasons behind what he is doing. He's not villain that just twirls his mustache and does evil things.

Keaton is an absolute home run in casting and in execution of his character. Overall it's a fine movie that scores better that it misses. They do on the other hand need to tone down some of the edge lord stuff and focus on peter and his personal struggles.

I'd say it's better than the first Sam raimi spider man but not as good as 2. It obviously is better than those terrible Sony amazing Spider-Man's. Go see it. Tom holland knocks it outta the park.

Your kids will love it.
