TOO MANY VILLAINS!
It's a common complaint with big budget films, and particularly superhero films, that the special effects end up overwhelming the drama and the humanity of the characters. Spider-Man 3 may be the first and last time in a superhero movie that the over-the-top drama overwhelms the special effects.
