Review of Spider-Man 3 (2007) by Eric N — 11 Nov 2013
Higher percentage of cool shit than its predecessors, but a less fulfilling experience. Needed 20 minutes more or 20 minutes less. The majority of the movie is gorgeous and brilliant. Some sinkholes in the middle and very botched ending. It is certainly weaker overall than the flawless emotional build of Part 2. Although the themes here are genius and entertaining, the movie's got too much story to tell... But I'm sure glad I'm not one of those people who don't have enough brain power to follow three different plot threads at once. Some are turned off by the sheer amount of story. I say: try reading a comic book sometime why don't ya! Gonna need to follow like 5 plots at once.
I would've taken out some of the romance drivel, and how Harry was handled felt rushed and inept at the end, but there's still enough cool stuff here with Sandman and Black Spider-man to satisfy me. Not as classic as the original two - it never had a chance.
