Review of Spider-Man 2 (2004) by George K — 12 Jan 2014
The webbed wonder strikes back again in a gripping, powerful and dazzling sequel. Spider-Man 2 was a huge success for me, mainly because it knew how to build up the tension and suspense from the first film. It basically tells the story of the estranged life of Harry Osborne after his father died, the growing relationship of Peter and Mary Jane and the threat of a new villain: Dr Octopus after an experiment at the lab went wrong. One thing I really accepted was that they were able to make Harry one of the center points of the film because he had one of the main desires of the film: who killed my father? He was very honest, but turned devious which I thought was awesome for him <3.
The villain was great in this film, threatening and mysterious and also I liked the transition from good to evil as he wasn't triggered by a letdown as in the first film, instead a science task gone wrong was the reason for all of this. Aunt May was also a character I warmed to, mainly because she was lonely without Ben and she tries to do everything she can for Peter. All in all, Spider-Man 2 is one of my favorite films and is a truly brilliant sequel and Sam shows us how it's done xx.
