Review of Spider-Man 2 (2004) by James E — 04 Jan 2015
This is a worthy sequel and some say this is better than the first, sure the actors are great and a great introduction for Dr. Otto who is played flawlessly by Alfred Molina and the plot goes deep into Peter Parkers life, now slowly becoming a crisis, but without the film's action scenes, the film becomes boring and slow and the dialog is nothing compared to the first film, yet the action scenes are simple amazing and the best I've seen for a while, the special effects are brilliant and the stunts really do blow you away.
To me, this was more of a retread to the first film except for the introduction of characters. On a whole Raimi weaves a wonderfully seductive web of arachnid action, human drama, and wink-nudge comedy but like I said, without the action scenes, it does get a bit repetitive and very boring, still worth a look though.
A mind-boggling piece of showboating and the most rigorous fairground ride of the year, it's still better than most comic-book sequels to be fair.
