Review of Spider-Man (1990) by David T — 20 Aug 2010
This is the long awaited, long promised, film of Marvel comic character and superhero Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
The film diverges from the comic book in key areas such as how Mary Jane and Peter meet and how their relationship started/changed, and the fact that she is in danger of death on a bridge (rather than Gwen Stacy).
There is superb casting in the film both looks and talent-wise, I could not imagine anyone else doing Peter or Mary Jane; only Jonah was once before well cast (lookwise). This is miles beyond the tv series adaptation.
I like everything about this film even the slightly exploitive rainy shots of Mary Jane when she was saved from muggers by Peter and Spiderman.
