Review of Spider-Man (1977) by David G — 16 Aug 2014
For every change this film does from the original, it's simply better. Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and an awesome cast make this film feel different while not changing their importance in the Spider Man universe.
Garfield, who recreates Peter Parker as an awkward and emotionally challenged young hero. Emma Stone shows her relevance by being the smart, not-so-average love interest rather than a "damsel in distress" while matching up with her co-actor's awkward charm that almost feels like a match made from heaven.
The villain subplot does tie things better with the main character's story, but his motivation for everything is dulled down to just a mad man who wants to turn everyone into lizards. Essentially the same story doesn't need to be told, as "The Incredible Hulk"has proven.
