Review of Spider-Man (1977) by Cineman P — 13 Mar 2015
After hearing that Spider-Man was getting rebooted after just five years since the release of 'Spider-Man 3' (2007), I thought "what's the point?" I had very low expectations.
But honestly, I thought this was actually good, yes, it is repetitive, mostly because it tells the origin of Spider-Man just like the 2002 Sam Raimi film. However, Andrew Garfield fits the role comfortably, and he shares a great chemistry with Emma Stone, who plays Gwen Stacey quite well.
Rhys Ifans is great as Dr Connors, and director Marc Webb makes some stylish action scenes that would've been great to see in 3D, but I did see it in civilized 2D.
I do have one complaint, and it's not really a spoiler, but when Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) gets shot by a thug, that scene wasn't as emotionally effective as it was in 'Spider-Man' (2002). Plus, this plot point never gets resolved.
Other than this, 'The Amazing Spider-Man' will definitely divide people in what they think of it, but I think it's a good enough reboot, not great, but it is worth watching.
