Review of Species: The Awakening (2007) by Sean F — 06 Mar 2009

This was not a great movie. This movie peripherally fits in with the rest of the "Species" franchise in that the same alien genetic material is spliced in with human DNA to create a sort of a hybrid, but there's virtually no other relationship with the previous movies. This movie gets 3/5 stars from me due to:

1. Some average-to-decent action scenes,.

2. the cheese factor,.

3. and best of all, the nudity placement. It was mostly average, but I was both amused and titillated by the gratuitous boob shot at about 3/4 of the movie; while the female star, "Miranda", is beginning the metamorphosis from human female to alien, she's in the alien-looking pod that's mostly opaque, except for a head-sized window showing her face, and a smaller window showing her left boob. They didn't have to show us that, but they went the extra mile.

If you are forced to see this movie, you will likely enjoy parts of it.
