Review of Special Correspondents (2016) by Pratik M — 02 May 2016
I've generally loved everything that Ricky Gervais has written/directed/starred in, so I was very excited to see this, also seeing that it was a netflix film which has a good track record for original films, sadly this is definitely Ricky's weakest outing yet, despite likely having the largest budget, the "romance" angle is weak, Kelly McDonald is barely given a personality, I can't understand how Vera Farmiga was ever married to Gervais' character, Benjamin Bratt is on screen for like a minute and is pretty useless, it tries to stick in some action at the end, but it's too short and then resolved too quickly and neatly, I'll admit Gervais is still funny and he def made me laugh on several occasions, but the story and everything else is just weak, hopefully his David Brent movie this fall will be better.
