Review of Spartan (2004) by Beast J — 07 Sep 2004
Garden State -- This is a very impressive directorial debut by Zach Braff. The film is funny, and enganging. I'm not sure the emotional aspects of the story worked as well as many believe, but I still enjoyed the film quite a bit.
.
Spartan -- Another winner from David Mamet. This is a taut thriller (almost too taut) which reminds me of some of his other work in the genre like The Spanish Prisoner, House of Games, and Homicide. What this film lacks a bit in comparison to those other three is a bit of humanity in it's characters. Things move so fast that we really don't feel like we know the protagonists. Still, it's thouroughly entertaining.
Identity -- This movie sucked fuck.
