Review of Spartan (2004) by Wesley H — 24 Aug 2009
Dark corners of political schemes is the center of Spartan. Which is why it was an interesting film. Without certain plot twists, Spartan would turn out to be another race against time thriller.
Val Kilmer is an actor with a lot of potential. With his role as the protagonist in the film, he performs well as a violent enforcer, but lacks depth in some areas. His character isn't given enough room to grow, not enough development. So his role is close to being a one-dimensional agent.
David Mamet's direction and writing succeeds to make this action-thriller, entertaining.
