Review of Spartan (2004) by Sandra D — 26 Jan 2010
The only movie I can say that deserves an extra half star for Val Kilmer's half-baked commentary (I truely think he was high).
This is Mamet's most contived script. But, even on a bad day, he puts buttons on scenes better than your typical writer. Here he is having an off day, but his dialogue (of course) and Val Kilmer's performance really save this one from getting lumped in with most other thrillers that follow similar narrative threads.
