Review of Spartan (2004) by Chad D — 14 May 2008
Just watched this on the telly tonight. Though it has been accused of merely toeing the line of a form of Clancy/Ludlum thriller, this is simply because critics were not expecting Mamet to commit himself so wantonly to the genre.
This is superb stuff, a bone-shuddering detective thriller. Politics, industry, obsession - seriously serious Mamet. I like it.
