Review of Spartan (2004) by Justin M — 24 Jul 2009
A great spy thriller. Writer/director David Mamet has crafted a thoroughly engrossing, riveting, and exciting chase for a girl, her captors, and the devastating truth that slowly emerges from the plot.
This politically-charged pulse-pounder unravels its themes and characters deliberately, yet Mamet is able to keep us fascinaed through the twists and turns. His cryptic, punchy dialogue paints the characters in small, subtle strokes.
A superior thinking man's thriller.
