Review of Spartacus (1960) by Becks W — 11 Aug 2008
Kubrick's legendary and foundational historical epic was one of the most expense movies to ever be made at the time, and its production grandeur and quality still shine through magnificantly over 40 years later.
Superb performances by a then all-star cast of Hollywood's finest, coupled with cutting edge cinematography and technical effects, are the backdrop for the sweeping drama of the Gladiator revolt led by one disgruntled and noble slave who would see his brothers live free; political and social commentary also abound in one of the most influential films of the past century.
