Review of Spartacus (1960) by Robert C — 02 Mar 2010
Kubrick definitely was going for epic, but epic isn't only massive long shots and an unlimited amount of extras. Epic delves deep within the soul and brings it out for all those millions of legionaries to see.
There are some great emotional struggles. But I honestly feel that the slow plot development, which seems uneventful at times, will turn some people away from this. There are some bizarre lines here and there and unnatural acting.
Though this is great study of the human condition, how long does it take to tell such as story?
