Review of Spanglish (2004) by Paul K — 16 Jan 2010
For some reason, I greatly enjoyed this movie, with Paz Vega, Adam Sandler, and Tea Leoni. Tea plays a possessed career woman who is losing her husband to Paz Vega's sexy and charming immigrant maid (okay, so maybe it's a bit stereotyped), but Flor, the maid, brings him back to his senses and his family.
Cloris Leachman appears as the alcoholic mother-in-law who is also a bit wiser than circumstances would suggest. Deeper characters than are usually found in romantic comedies.
