Review of Spanglish (2004) by Donnie D — 17 Jun 2012
An extremly overlooked film. I would say that it is my favorite of the serious/dramatic films that Adam Sandler has appeared in. The film features a really standout performance from Tea Leoni as a depressed and bitter housewife who kind of neglects everyone around her, but for understandable reasons.
The only thing I don't like about it is the ending, which I don't want to give away, but it's not really a happy ending in my view. But it's still a great movie. Adam Sandler and Paz Vega's budding relationship in the film is the most touching relationship in Adam Sandler's entire career (besides Drew Barrymore in the Wedding Singer) and one of the few that actually seems plausible.
A great, great film that is seriously overlooked.
