Review of Space Pirate Captain Harlock (2013) by Jay C — 20 Mar 2014

Space Pirate Captain Harlock looked like a great exciting news when it first appears on the web. Toei animation 30 million production and a great character..the hype was high..and maybe that expectation played us a bad trick.

The movie is certainly an artistry of CGI and beautiful images. The coolest character Harlock is rendered magnificently and so the battleship and all the characters around. THE ACTING is great..but the story doesn't flow in the same magnificent way.

Nothing to spoil the plot with this review, but too many twist take place, to the point that now anything can happen and everything is just fine..so we felt no connection to the characters , thus no connection to the story..and the end of the film brought no satisfaction.

We will definitely watch it again and would suggest that it is worth to watch especially for the fans that lived through the era of Harlock..but we can not say that space captain Harlock makes the right justice to such a wonderful iconic character.

It's a miss chance, considering the beautiful visuals that accompany the movie and the artists exceptional effort to bring such a character to life.
