Review of Space Chimps (2008) by Tyler M — 20 Dec 2011
Welcome to Tyler M.'s third Primate Preview. Special thanks to Rostron2 for giving me the idea. This time I'm doing an extremely lackluster animated film.
Ham (Andy Samberg) is the grandson of the first simian in space, now he's on his own adventure and goes to a strange planet full of aliens.
This is basically a really really bad offshot of WALL-E is his name was MONK-E. Except this "MONK-E" goes on a stupid adventure that's fun for the kids, but for hardcore film-goers like me, it's one that you should avoid.
The animation is bad, the plot was ludicrous, the characters were half-baked and the voice acting was decent as best (though Patrick Warburton is quite funny in another great animation role). It's like the writers and directors wanted to make a movie that made no sense! Why? Just for the smell of it!
With lackluster animation, bad characters, okay voice acting, bad animation, but a good performance from Patrick Warburton, Space Chimps is the lesser of the space-themed animated films.
FINAL VERDICT: 15%.
