Review of Soylent Green (1973) by Podcasting's Brock ! — 05 Oct 2011
Even though I knew the ending thanks to SNL in the early 1990s, this movie has more to it than just the mystery of the titular substance. They strike the right balance of lessons to be learned and entertainment, showing in this future Earth (in the year 2022) of depleting resources and overpopulation while we follow Charlton Heston's detective solving a murder mystery.
Heston is actually great here, especially in scenes where he uses modern conveniences like running water or eating his first steak like a child discovering them for the first time. A good watch. Recommend.
