Review of Southside with You (2016) by Ken C — 04 Sep 2016

It's unfortunate that several posts on this site are obviously trolls or Obama-haters as this film should stand on its own. "Southside" is a sweet, intelligently told story about a (now historic) first date.

Credit goes to Parker Sawyers and Tika Sumpter for capturing the spirit and character of the president and first lady. The spark they create is unmistakeable. Yet the film still reaches beyond this first "date" to also include broader racial issues and what defines us.

Knowing where fate would take this two gave the story an added weight that similar Hollywood love stories lack. A beautiful little film.
