Review of Southpaw (2015) by Antonio G — 12 Sep 2015

B+ Get ready super sappy people because once you see Southpaw, bring so tissues with you. I was incredibly suprised with Southpaw firstly since I didn't see any if the spoiler trailers and that madr my expirience way better and what it's the best boxing movie since Warrior. Let's start talking about the acting Jake Gylennhall playing this crazy boxer oncr again proves that he one of the best actors working in the buisness because not only did he get super fit and did his own boxing stunts for the job, but the real trobule that this character has and had great chemistry with the girl the played her daughter. I don't know anything about her but she was magnificent and suprised the hell outta me on how great of an actress she is. Also Forrest Whitaker as the man training Jake Gylenhall was also teriffic giving his best perforance in years and also the entire supporting cast was fantastic. The boxing scenes were really well handled and also in an angle where it's like your the boxer and it starts shaking. But the main thing to talk about is how much depression you feel for this character because his life just starts getting from bad to worse and it's hard to watch this charcter being tortured with all the bad things that are happening. Also, I feel like this movie was all so made to keep on just throwing bad stuff and bad stuff and was just shoving it down your throught. As well that this movie is a cliche to your typical boxing movie but in the end, this movie won me over for the amazing acting given by everyone, great boxing scenes, you really feel for this character and just want his life to get back to normal. Southpaw is the best boxing movie I have seen in a while and is really worth checking out.
