The critics are panning "Southpaw," and yes, I admit, it's not my favorite movie of the year. But, it's not as bad as the critics would lead you to believe. A strong performance by Jake Gyllenhaal as a champion boxer, whose life takes a bad break.
Forest Whitaker is good, Rachel McAdams is OK. If you don't like boxing movies then don't waste your time or money. Jake Gyllenhaal's performance is receiving some Oscar buzz. I say rent don't buy.
See it once, once is enough.
