Yeah it deserves 3 stars, not the best boxing movie, but Jake Gyllenhaal.

Still gives one of his best performance.

Good direction, some humor, Jake Gyllenhaal, makes it a somewhat watchable movie which you can still enjoy...

The epic music by my favorite rapper eminem sounds good, but it is not felt much because of the weak plot, for me the trailer of the movie spoils the show, southpaw tries too hard to be Cinderella man and rocky, but the plot needs to be improvised, there is not even a single memorable dialogue, weak ending. Forest Whitaker acts as a good coach, but it won't change the fact that the plot was slow and weak, it became more about money and less about revenge, it has a terrific start and a terrible end, still I ended up enjoying it, this is one of the good movies of 2015 not perfection but 2015 hasn't been so great for movies yet, looking forward to some Christmas movies, hopefully they can give a good end to the year.....

I somehow moved of-topic so this is a good movie not the best of boxing but one of the best of jake gyllenhall, if you are a fan go watch it, he has worked really hard on the body :D.
