Review of Southland Tales (2007) by Nick B — 18 Dec 2011
The story is scattershot with no real flow at all, it felt more like list of ideas that Kelly thought would be really cool to put in a movie but had no idea on how to link all of them together. At just under 2 and a half hours, this is a long ordeal to sit through for such sloppy storytelling.
That said, it has it's moments and I didn't hate it... but it still came off as a huge misfire and appears to be a film where someone really needed to reel the director in a little bit. Maybe it needs another viewing to try and dissect any possible things Kelly was trying to say through this movie.. but I'll probably just watch it to oogle Sarah Michelle Gellar who's really, really hot in the movie.
