Review of Southland Tales (2007) by Matthew S — 22 Mar 2012
This film is a mess. It's like a sci-fi geek, a political activist, and an apocalyptic preacher got together and decided to tell a story by taking turns writing sentences. The setting and premise are presented as a dense pile of exposition, and you never really understand anything that's going on until the film is already two hours in.
By then, you just want it to be over. It really ends up feeling like a pretentious hodge-podge of topics and moods strung together by a very strange series of events.
