Review of Southland Tales (2007) by Jens S — 11 Feb 2013
Not sure what to make of it. I really want to see it again. Visually, it was very appealing to me. The kind of shots and obscurity I wish I could do someday. I fucking loved the soundtrack and am listening/downloading it as I type this.
But seriously, I don't think I know just quite how to react to the whole thing. Movies, generally, don't confuse me; even the deep meaning esque ones. But this had so many plots and so much it wanted to say and I got all the surface level-basic plot points, but the symbolism and subplots went over my head.
It was enough for me to sit through and walk out happily scratching my brain. More than enough for me to require at least a couple more viewings. (I think I need Max Mitchell on this one.).
