Review of South Pacific (1958) by Robbie M — 23 Aug 2008
Drenched to a fault in faux color, and so preoccupied technically, one might expect this to be a bust. But it works, in a rather haunting way. Doesn't hurt that there are many shirtless GIs running about.
Overlong, perhaps, but utterly worth it, and I am always moved in spite of myself.
