Review of Source Code (2011) by Constance B — 13 Apr 2014
(warning: potential spoilers though I was careful).
This was an excellent movie. Well acted, suspenseful, and the plot holes were forgivable because Gyllenhaal convinces us of his character genuine need for some kind of closure. The movies writer manages to understand the concept of Quantum leaps and sets it out beautifully. We can even overlook the Duck/Geese.
Then we get the final minutes. What a complete and total cop-out. I haven't seen a climax that botched since Bobby Ewing had a shower. A good movie destroyed, and what would have need a lovely ending totally cheapened.
A four star movie becomes a one star movie leaving us unsatisfied, and with a bad taste in our mouths as one life is casually exchanged for another.
