Review of Sound of Metal (2020) by Bertobellamy — 06 Dec 2020
'Sound of Metal' explores the hardship of the hearing impaired with a story about the difficulty of accepting the inevitable. Riz Ahmed gives a fine performance as the troubled musician, who refuses to lose his life as he knew it.
The character's emotional arc is satisfying, but the final act prevents the film from being truly amazing. So much irrelevant backstory about one character unnecessarily extends the movie. Anyway, this is a good comeback for director Darius Marder.
