Review of Soul Men (2008) by Lewis E — 10 Sep 2015
The pairing of Samuel L.Jackson and Bernie Mac did ignite each of their comedic abilities to a reasonable extent but the actors' bitter chemistry did run out of steam as the plot eventually succumbs to low-budget twists and humour.
The real soul of this film is in seeing the late Bernie Mac perform for the last time, a performance not demonstrating his best material but one delivering enough smiles and chuckles to make it worth the effort.
