Review of Soul Kitchen (2009) by Elvira B — 19 Aug 2010
An impessive culinary delight from the Turkish/German Director, largely about a man building a restaurant from scratch and keeping it away from his real estate buddy trying to buy it over and changing it into some watered down, soul less modern building for a quick profit, much to the disgust of the people that hang out and work there.
It also covers relationships and family drama, but never gets too dark and the comedy never gets too funny. With the aid of a decent, eclectic soundrack, this creates a feel good and enjoyable watch from start to finish.
