Review of Metropolitan (1990) by Elvira B — 22 Jan 2010
"Igby Goes Down," "American Psycho" and dozens of other films go to extreme lengths to highlight the vices of the Manhattan upper class. "Metropolitan" certainly doesn't ignore the vices, but realizes the rich are no more or less lovable and contemptible than anyone else.
This strength, buttressed with a great story and excellent acting, makes for one of the best independent films I've ever seen.
