How in the hell does a film that's this sloppy, tonally inconsistent, and just flabby get such good reviews? There are several ideas hinted at, then you're just smacked in the face with them. This is a B-film pretending to be something more.

There are decent performances. Too bad that they're wasted on this script and direction. The ideas might have worked if it had been made tighter. They try to get too many ideas into this film and don't really make any of them feel like a part of the world.

Everything is just tacked on for the plot. On the plus side, I live in Oakland and it was cool to see inside the upper floor apartment at Latham Square.
