Review of Sorry to Bother You (2018) by Gadapa — 07 Mar 2020
As I was watching this film, I felt as if I was in an alternate reality box being jostled about. The movie succeeds in creating a one-of-a-kind personality that's grounded enough to make its characters and themes resonant, yet bizarre and outlandish enough to hold attention and affix the movie firmly in memory.
It only suffers from being too amplified in its own eccentricity such that it becomes niche and unrelatable, and from not easing into the deep end that is the last act of this film. It's certainly worth watching for its idiosyncratic vibe alone, but some caution is warranted for the wildness of the ride.
