Review of Sorry to Bother You (2018) by Aryeh B — 08 Jul 2018
After years of excited anticipation, I saw Sorry To Bother You and it's even better than I expected. It's one of the most insightful treatments of the intersections of race and class that I've ever seen.
It's wickedly funny, smart, stunningly beautiful, and radical. It's really breathtaking to see a movie this radical and confrontational to capitalism be made and released through the Hollywood system.
It's a testament to the film's quality that 47-year-old, first-time director, decades-long community organizer and independent rap performer genius Boots Riley could get this movie about working class revolution made, with a budget and known, successful actors.
It's the best thing I've seen since Get Out.
