Review of Sorority Row (2009) by Sleez B — 06 Apr 2010
Where was the fun or scares in Sorority Row? The film is filled with obnoxious people and tools. Also, it has no wit, style, humor, acting, suspense, but it does give a little T&A & lingerie. The first part is done well when a man believes his lover is dead (prank), but the prank goes wrong. Who's laughing now?
Afterwards, 8 months* later, all the sisters seem not to care about their fallen sister because they are having fun at parties. Out of nowhere, they begin to receive text messages about the night their friend died. As soon as you say, rub-a-dub-dub, a few people die, mostly from a tire iron. The killer is stalking them one by one at sorority house, but can't seem to be spotted. The usual suspects are rounded and dealt with in bored manner. There are some nice kills, but none of them are original or thrilling as the girls in the film.
H2: Halloween II is a better film because characters are realistic and aren't stuck up in a stereotypical way. Comparing two girls from the movie, in Sorority Row, Jessica (behind the dumping of fallen Megan) wants to party and becomes infuriated when reminded about the incident. Consequently, she will run down anyone. Now, in Halloween II, Harley is ready to party and introduces herself "Wassup d*ck lickers!" However, she notices Laurie's state of mind and believes she is kidding when she says that she is Michael Myers's sister. She reads the book and is surprise about it and is willing to stay in house rather than party.
Now, I was thinking what went through the mind of everyone when they made Sorority Row. There was no attempt in originality other than staying frosty. My Bloody Valentines, Halloween, and Friday the 13th made efforts to be original.
Do you really wanna party now? I won't instead I'll stay home and practice on bass and do my homework.
*It's usually a year when someone's past comes to haunt them.
