Review of Sorority Row (2009) by Sergio R — 01 Apr 2012
Though it's not actually a terrible film - it's well-made and nice to look at - "Sorority Row" fails because it has nothing new to add to the genre in which it works; the plot is cliched and uneven, and the dialogue is clunky and expositional.
Even the murders, which the film takes great pleasure in drawing out and showing every detail of, are ludicrous and un-exceptional - lots of stabbing and killing with home-made weapons may look super-cool but, in the end, it has nothing on other, far superior entries in the slasher genre.
Unless you're a real, hardcore fan of slashers, or you just want a slick and smart, by-the-numbers but ultimately lacking experience, you'd probably be best to leave this one alone.
