SORORITY ROW barely stumbles across the mark for a "fresh" rating. While it basically boils down to be a fairly standard slasher film, of which there are countless others that have done it better, it benefits from the current climate in the horror genre in that, unlike a majority of recent entries in the genre, this film doesn't take itself too seriously and isn't pretentious.

SORORITY ROW knows what kind of film it is, and this works to its advantage. If you're looking for stellar acting in your horror film, then it's probably best to look elsewhere, because you're not going to find it here. The performances are adequate for the film, but nobody is going to make you forget Jamie Lee Curtis in HALLOWEEN either.

The fact that they manage to keep the killer's identity a secret for the duration of the film is rather commendable, with there being several different suspects along the way, all of whom would have made sense.

In short, SORORITY ROW is not a film that is going to be remembered as one of the genre's best offerings of the past few years, and it doesn't deserve to be. It's a paint-by-numbers slasher film that rises above a lot of other recent horror films simply because it doesn't take itself seriously, which makes it a worthwhile rental for fans of the genre.
