Review of Sophie's Choice (1982) by Phillip G — 31 Dec 2007
A slow, involving film based on a very famous novel about a holocaust survivor's tragic life and the impossible choice she was forced to make. Meryl Streep's extraordinary performance is the text book definition of perfectionist acting and deservedly won her the Academy Award.
The film itself moves slowly but effectively to its obviously shattering and tragic conclusion. A significant achievement.
